Camping with Dad and moose bubbles

Many years ago, Dad took my brother on a motorcycle camping trip and I was super jealous. Camping is one of my favorite things, not to mention on a motorcycle! Plus I was a huge daddy's girl. So Dad, being the fair person he is, took me on a trip too. We went up in the Jamboree motorhome, no motorcycle but this meant we could haul the four diggers!! I think we went up around Bumblebee campground but it was in Idaho for sure. We got all set up and had no neighbors (my ideal camping situation) so jumped on the diggers and headed for the hills. We did some great riding and got back, tired and happy, and sat down to a dinner of Dinty Moore stew. It's a camping classic that we call Demi Moore due to a miscommunication with one of my brother's friends years ago. Part way through dinner we thought we heard water running. We both kind of stopped and listened individually and then, realizing that we were both hearing it, the investigation began. The seat at the dining table was removed and low and behold, we found a fountain of water. No fountain of youth this, unfortunately, but part of the hot water system I believe. Thankfully, my dad is the handy sort and he was able to get it patched up. We continued our dinners in peace and headed to bed early. The next day we jumped back on the four wheelers and headed off in a different direction. At one point we came across a pond and slowed down to enjoy the view when we realized that we weren't alone. Across the pond there was a moose out in the water! We killed the engines and sat to admire this most majestic and odd looking of our local creatures (at a safe distance). To our amazement, she wasn't alone. She had a calf with her and it was sticking its muzzle under the water and blowing bubbles! Funniest thing! As far as we could tell, it was simply for the fun of it. There didn't seem to be any eating or other purposeful action going on. Seems like kids of all types like bubbles. It was such a neat experience to have. Eventually we left them to their bubbles and continued our ride. It was a grand trip and I'm so glad to have grown up in an area that holds, and with people that enjoy, such beauty and wonder.
